What are your comments on the State Department clown show re the evacuation of Americans from the Middle East? Was I the only one to notice that this was issued via, of all places, Twitter rather than the State Department’s own travel.state.gov website? I’m told by people in the region that U.S. embassies and consulates there had zero advanced notice. Indeed, until yesterday the travel.state.gov website showed the UAE as having only a moderately higher risk profile than the UK and France with no mention of evacuation whatsoever. Anyone who is even remotely sentient recognizes that the thought of evacuation planning only recently occurred to executive branch officials.
It’s worrisome that the reason the stated objective for the war (please don’t call it that in Congress) has changed at least three times in the last five days and that this may be indicative of the same absence of rigorous strategic thinking that we have seen with State when it comes to Americans living or traveling in the Middle East.
