The vulgarity that is found on "X" reminds me of the type of things written on bathroom walls of a dive bar. Just a rambling thought from an old hermit.

Once again very good Ms Pletka. Of all people Bill Clinton said something so true, "There is nothing wrong with America that can't be fixed with what is right with America." Our job continues to be eternal vigilance for freedom. Thanks.

The complete lack of self-reflection by The Left is rather startling. One doesn't have to be for Trump (like you) to determine what this election was about. Konstantin Kisin outlined it beautifully in his "Ten Reasons" post on Substack, and he's a Brit. Sometimes, we must step outside our bubbles to see and understand what is happening in and around them. The Left should try that by hanging out in places like Cambria County, Pennsylvania, but they will never leave their privileged and delusional bubbles. https://www.konstantinkisin.com/p/10-reasons-you-didnt-see-this-coming?r=2jzfq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

I did not vote for Trump or Harris. But I felt good when Trump won, and the lefts reaction is exactly why. They aren't going to change anytime soon. So I am going to wish Donald and our country success.

Thanks for these thoughts. I know you don't buy in 100% to Trump, but you really capture his most meaningful attribute - his empathy for us and his desire to help us.

Great essay. The fact that some conveniently avoid the fact that the majority of voters chose the candidate that gave them hope - not because they are all some version of an “ist” or a “phobe” says a lot about the inability to leave one’s own silo. If they really want to make do something about it, why not run for office - or support someone who does, or volunteer or do anything to make our world a better place. Acting devastated and needing safe spaces is self indulgent, infantile behavior.

A sure way to victory is to hate the electorate.

What’s it say about Kamala when the vast majority of people in the US hate Trump personally (me included), yet he slaughters her in the electoral college and in the popular vote. That's because she was an unvetted candidate who didn’t go thru a primary or a convention. (And the Dems talk about a “threat to democracy”!!) Kamala had a lower approval rating than Biden before the coup! And she was first of 13 candidates in the 2020 campaign to drop out because she has ZERO support. Kamala was a seriously flawed candidate, yet the puppeteers behind the Democratic curtain anointed her instead of having an open competition. That is a mistake that will take a long time for them to recover from. And if thy don’t move away from their far left agenda and become more focused on the mainstream population, they may never recover.

But to say this "is a mistake" fails to explain why, after all the evidence you cite from 2020 and since, they failed to see what should have been obvious. It isn't a mistake if they were simply being who they are. Anyone can correct for making a mistake. Uprooting who you are will be much harder.
