I struggled to get through Mr Capehart's WAPO statement. The idea that the bill pushed by the Democrats was the solution is, frankly ludicrous. Danielle, you cleared the air very nicely in stating that the President already has the authority to regulate, even close the border and gave it up on January 21, 2021. And, congratulations on the Powerline link.
I’d be curious for your thoughts on whether you think Israel has bigger plans for Iran. I agree that this is definitely in part about restoring deterrence, but I also wonder if Israel has decided to go full balls to the wall and is legitimately interested in taking down the entire enterprise by making Khamenei its next target.
Sorry for the slow reply, Sahar. Needed a bit more time for this. I don't think Israel has bigger plans for Iran. That is really not Israel's way... we have almost never seen them take out national leaders, only terrorist leaders. In addition, I think Israel doesn't really have the reach to be able to influence the next steps inside Iran, which risks serious consequences. On the other hand, it is becoming increasingly obvious that the regime in Tehran needs to be dealt with. I've heard that from people who, 5 years ago, would never have said such a thing, including senior US military leaders. The question is what happens if we make such a decision (under Kamala? no way; under Trump? also unlikely). And if we wait long enough and they get nukes, then all bets are off. We've let this situation spiral out of control.
Thanks, Dany. Like you suggest, I assumed Israel wouldn't go after Khamenei because of the serious destabilizing effects it could have. But just given the way they've been knocking out senior leaders left and right at a pace we really haven't seen since the start of the conflict (which I am LIVING for), I couldn't help but wonder...
I was impressed that you answered the questions and then that guy calls them platitudes. Wow, that truly shocked me. Good job! I sure hope that Israel's current plan leads down the road to Tehran. Success would be assured with US help.
You were great on PBS. Your answers were perfectly clear, rational, fact-based and NOT partisan. I think a majority of Americans wish politicians were more like you.

Thank you! Those guys are awesome, and very generous in sharing my pieces.
PBS WaPo, MSNBC. Why didn't just show up with Harris For President T Shirt?

FYI, Steve Green at PJ is asking the same question.
I agree with everything you said. More to the point I love your jacket. Also am proud of you for embedding the heck out of that video.
You can only see it in the Substack app! And thank you about my jacket, I do love it. 😊
Good TV appearance on PBS Friday night. You are good on TV. You've come along way since the Helms days. Cheers, Mike Kraft
Just older 😉 Thank you for reading.
